Review the Release from Harm

  • The tournament will only include teams from the Colorado Springs Adult Hockey League (CSAHL) Intermediate division.
  • Teams will be made up of players from your current CSAHL Intermediate division. Contact Tournament director if your team is interested in having a former player play for your team in the tournament or if needing players to complete your team.
  • Players from the three non-participating teams who want to play in the tournament can register and we will be placed on participating teams.
  • Players must follow the CSAHL Intermediate division rules, which are based on the USA Hockey Adult Rules.
  • Each team will have a designated team captain and assistant captain.
  • Rosters of each team will be reviewed and approved by tournament officials.
  • Players can only play on one team in the tournament.
  • Each player that paid for the tournament and suited for a game must play in each period of the game, except for overtime in the championship games.
  • Game referees are ineligible to play for any team during the tournament.
  • The tournament will be a 3-game guarantee, with the top two teams playing for first and second place, and the third and fourth place teams playing for third and fourth place. The fifth and sixth place teams will not have a fourth game.
  • Each player must have a team color jersey with a unique number.
  • Only the team captain and assistant captain are permitted to discuss disputed calls with referees. Any other player who argues with a referee will be penalized or ejected from the game.
  • No checking. Referee will determine call.
  • Referees will have last say and has the authority to end the conversation with a captain or assistant captain at any time.
  • Fighting will not be tolerated. The offending player(s) will be suspended from the tournament.
  • Ruff play will not be tolerated, and the referee will determine if the offending player receives a penalty, is suspended from the rest of the game or the tournament.
  • Major penalties such as spearing or butt-ending could result in expulsion from the tournament.
  • A player is allowed two penalties during a game. Upon receiving the third penalty the player is ejected for the remainder of the game. If violations are severe enough in the referee’s opinion the referee may suspend the player from the next game or tournament.
  • Players are expected to remain under control while on the ice. If in the referee’s opinion a player is skating out of control, the referee may call the player for a 2-minute penalty for not remaining in control.
  • Individual players can only score three goals per game. For the fourth goal scored by an individual player the score will not count and that player will be given a delay of game penalty.
  • The games consist of three 18-minute running clock periods.
  • There is a 3-minute warm up period to start the game.
  • If the score is within two points at the two-minute mark of the third period, the last two minutes will be stop clock if the score reminds within two points. There will only be 30 second breaks between periods.
  • No over time of the first three games. For the first/second and third/fourth championship games there will be overtime explained below.
  • Ranking for the tournament will be:
    • Win Two points
    • Tie One point
    • Loss Zero points
  • Tie breaker rules:
    • Goal differential: Calculated as the number of goals scored during the tournament minus the number of goals conceded during the tournament. Team with highest number wins the tie.
    • Goals Scored: If still tied the team with the most goals during the tournament wins the tie.
    • Goals conceded: If still tied the team with the least amount of conceded goals wins the tie.
    • The team with the fewest minor penalties will win the tie.
    • The team with the fewest total penalty minutes will win the tie.
    • The team that won or scored the earliest goal in the game played between the tied teams if both teams played each other will win the tie.
    • Tournament officials will determine winner.
  • Championship games ties:
    • At the end of the third period of championship games and the two teams are tied, it will go to a shootout. The shootout will follow the same shootout rules as the CSAHL Intermediate division.
  • As a participant in the Summer BLAST Charity Hockey Tournament you agree to the Release from Harm.
